The world-famous Hong Kong Sevens tournament was back again this year, delivering another smashing success for sport in Hong Kong. Engaged by the Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU), Pico was heavily involved in stadium branding, designing and creating most of the artwork around the Hong Kong stadium and executing way-finding signage for the public and the workforce.
Our team also activated three spaces for the HKRU, planning and generating great ideas for these spaces, which were located around the stadium. First, we discussed how to make the HKRU Union Suite – a luxury suite catering only for VVIP visitors – more fun and welcoming.
We then ran through ideas for the Sportsman’s Bar. This year, we proposed a different format for the bar, with a change of furniture design and an added viewing deck gallery. We also proposed that the second level would have a mini cocktail bar layout, with ex-rugby players giving talks during the interval. This format was a big hit, and tickets for the Sportsman’s Bar were sold out for the duration of the tournament.
The HKRU also engaged Pico to design and fabricate the canopy for their Suite 220. The canopy’s structure was meant to offer higher-tier ticket holders excellent views of the matches and the action in the South Stand while enjoying luxurious F&B services in perfect shelter.
