The Commonwealth Games is one of the most important international sports events in the world. In 2006, the Games were held in Melbourne during 15-26 March, inviting athletes from 71 nations of the Commonwealth to participate in 16 sports. Held every four years, the Games were first launched in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.
As Official Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, Pico and its partner supplied and installed marquee structures, temporary wall panels, carpets, temporary floorings, lighting and air-conditioning at the Games sites and at the Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination.
This was the third time that PICO won a contract in global sports spectaculars. Following the successful completion of 2004 Athens Olympic contract, a PICO led consortium was also on hand at the Olympic Winter Games in Torino 2006 and the 15th Asian Games 2006 in Doha.
