To fully leverage the potential of generative AI, countries need data-intensive processing capability and a strong foundation of high-quality data, a skilled workforce and ethical consideration. Without these, the integration of generative AI into real-world applications becomes difficult, if not impossible.
Salesforce’s 2023 Asia Pacific Readiness Index evaluates the AI readiness of 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting improvements and disparities in readiness levels. Singapore holds the top spot for the third consecutive time since 2019, benefiting from favourable policies and a business-friendly environment. Japan and China rank second and third, respectively, with both implementing forward-looking initiatives for AI adoption across all sectors of their economies. South Korea and Australia also rank high.
Apart from their varying levels of readiness, compared to 2019 and 2021, all economies in the region now place AI development at the forefront of their national agenda. AI is not just a technological issue, but a driver for economic growth and digital trade, with the potential to transform society and foster sustainable and inclusive economic development.
